Unlock your Nokia mobile phone
In general, when you buy a cell phone, the company that sold you the phone (eg AT & T) "locked" the phone before you've purchased, so you can use on their network. This means you can not use your phone on another network if, even if you change the SIM card (which is short for Subscriber Identity Module). The SIM card is the small piece of plastic that identifies your phone to the network Cell. Changing your SIM card for your phone work on another network is particularly useful if you want to travel to another country and want to buy a card pre-paid SIM card that you can have access to a cell phone without roaming charges. There are services that offer to provide capacity release of a fee, but do not pay for them! You can do yourself for free, which is the perfect price.
Steps
1. Before trying anything else, contact your service provider and request an unlock code. Usually, if you been a customer of theirs for some time, they will give you an unlock code for free. This is by far the best way to get your phone unlocked.
2. Download the software to generate the unlock code. The software is available on some websites for websites without paying and others that also offer support if things go wrong. See External Links below.
3. Find the serial number cell phone, also known as your IMEI number. This can be done either by removing the back of your cell phone and research under the battery, or simply by typing * # 06 # on your mobile phone. There must be something like: 010082321439976/07951780736
4. Using the software you downloaded, enter your manufacturer (which in this case Nokia), and dragging on the map. Replace the battery and power into the phone.
5. You will see a message "Insert SIM card". Enter all the characters you see in your code, including the # symbols. For press * "p" 3 times to obtain a '+' press the * key 2 times, to get to press a 'w' on * key 4 times. Ignore spaces in the code.
6. To unlock your phone you generally need to enter a single code. Start with the first. If your phone is not unlocked by typing the first code (MCC + MNC), use code "7" (Multilock)
7. Once you've finished entering a code that works, you should see a message that says "SIM is not restricted" or "Restriction off" message depending your model. If not, try entering another code. Message "Can not undo restrictions" means the phone is "hard locked" and can be unlocked by the code.
Tips
* For some phones, like the E51, you can unlock all simply by updating the firmware of the phone using Nokia PC Suite.
* Release applies to all cellphones. The above steps work for GSM phones. You CAN NOT use the above steps to unlock a CDMA or TDMA phone. To "unlock" a CDMA or TDMA phones is known as reprogramming the phone. For CDMA phones, you need alternative or Master Lock MSL which you may be able to obtain from your service provider. Please note that you may not be able to obtain the MSL from your service provider, as is usually against company policy to give these customers.
* Turn off your phone. Hold down the "3", "*" and "call" and turn on the phone. Keep the keys down until Do you see the word "Formatting …" on the screen. Make sure the battery is fully charged before attempting it. This should reset the phone lock code.
* Similarly, some software is able to unlock CDMA, GSM and other mobile networks in different but you have to watch for fraud
Disclaimers
* Attempting to unlock your phone is at your own risk. Although unlocking your phone is legal, some cell phone operators might choose to void your warranty if you unlock your phone.
* Most phones only allow you to try a number of unlock tries, Nokia phones have a limit of 5 attempts. After that, the phone becomes "hard-locked", meaning it can not be unlocked without the aid special equipment.
* Most newer phones do not work with the generated codes unlock free programs.
